What the press say about Gilpin Lodge

Sunday Telegraph

There is no obsequious flunkery at Gilpin Lodge Country House Hotel. Instead, just a small writing desk, some fresh flowers and the owner….And that's the hallmark of this hotel; it nicely hits the spot between formality and friendliness….Little expense has been spared, yet the overall impression is understatement. The bedrooms.....are vast enough to hole up in all day with a good book (plenty provided if you forget to pack one). The bathrooms are huge, warm and boldly tiled. Many come to Gilpin Lodge for the food. Choices from the five course dinner menu - strong on local produce, light and European in touch could include a starter of potato, foie gras and leek terrine….Fires are stoked at 6am to welcome guests down to breakfast, a sybaritic feast where the choices stretch from porridge with cream to strawberry and Champagne sorbet….Most guests come to enjoy a bit of pampering...
